Micro-LAM Joins IDEX Corporation
In ‘Defining Moment’ for Local High-Tech Manufacturer
PORTAGE, Mich. [Aug. 1, 2025]—In what its founder calls “a defining moment in our journey,” advanced manufacturing company Micro-LAM, Inc., announced today that it was joining IDEX Corporation.
“This decision is both exciting and deeply meaningful,” said Deepak Menon, Ph.D., CEO and founder of Micro-LAM. “Most importantly, it reflects the shared commitment of our two organizations to build something greater together.”
Micro-LAM manufactures laser-assisted machining solutions, ultra-precision diamond tools, and custom optics. Headquartered in Portage, where it has a key manufacturing presence, it also operates subsidiaries 603 OPTX in Keene, New Hampshire; and M10 Edge in Stevenage, England, and Menon will continue to lead the operation through this exciting next chapter for the company.
Based in Northbrook, Illinois, IDEX is a global applied solutions provider serving niche markets with mission critical components across advantaged industries, including aerospace and defense, optics, life sciences, water, and fire and rescue. The publicly traded company operates in more than 20 countries and employs about 9,000 people.
Menon said the two companies are an ideal match, especially given Micro-LAM’s growth strategy.
“IDEX understands who we are, not just what we do,” he explained. “Micro-LAM brings an innovative culture, a customer-driven mindset, and a best-in-class ability to solve complex problems with elegant solutions. IDEX brings powerful resources, global reach and operational expertise. Together we can scale faster, innovate deeper, and deliver greater value to the industries and customers who trust us to serve their needs.”
Menon applauded Micro-LAM’s employees worldwide for the company’s success and the future it aspires to build.
“This is their moment,” Menon said. “They built Micro-LAM into something truly special. Now we have the opportunity to amplify their impact.
“When we started, we had the bold idea to fundamentally change how materials are machined at the microscopic level,” he added. “We’ve built more than innovative technology. We’ve built trust, integrity and expertise on a global scale. Those remain our greatest strengths, and they align perfectly with IDEX’s values and vision.”
