Anteneh Tsegaye
Embarking on a Journey of Growth and Discovery at Micro-LAM
Meet Anteneh Tsegaye, a dedicated PhD student from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he is deepening his expertise in Optical Science and Engineering. With a keen focus on the future, Anteneh chose to apply for an internship at Micro-LAM, driven by several unique opportunities that the company presents.
Why Micro-LAM?
Anteneh’s decision to intern at Micro-LAM was influenced by the company’s pioneering work in optics processing and laser-assisted diamond turning technology. “I was drawn to Micro-LAM because of its comprehensive optics processing capabilities, from start to finish,” Anteneh explains. This environment promises a comprehensive learning experience in optical manufacturing, packed with advanced technology and innovative practices.
Applying Academic Expertise to Real-World Challenges
Currently, Anteneh is working on his thesis, developing novel amorphous material matrices for preserving biologics, like vaccines, using laser-assisted drying techniques. Although the application differs, the fundamental technology—laser manipulation—is a common thread with Micro-LAM’s work. “The laser manipulation techniques I’m studying are pivotal, both in my thesis and at Micro-LAM, offering a seamless transition between academic theory and industrial application,” he says.
Career Aspirations and Goals
Anteneh is not only focused on applying his theoretical knowledge but is also eager to gain substantial industry experience. His career aspirations include becoming a full professional engineer, where he can leverage his skills in a dynamic, challenging environment. He views his time at Micro-LAM as a stepping stone to achieving these goals, aiming to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application.
What Anteneh Hopes to Gain
From his internship, Anteneh anticipates gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge optical manufacturing and laser-assisted processes. “I am looking forward to enhancing my technical skills and understanding industry best practices,” Anteneh shares. Professional growth, networking, and the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects are also high on his list of internship goals.
Life Beyond Academia
Outside his academic and professional life, Anteneh enjoys playing soccer, swimming, reading the Bible, and traveling. These activities not only give him a well-rounded life but also foster a sense of balance and personal growth.
Looking Forward
While Anteneh has a structured plan for his internship, he is open to embracing new experiences as they come. He hopes to contribute fresh ideas that could enhance efficiency and be actively involved in various projects to broaden his perspective and expertise.
